To encourage the growth and professional development of students interested in obtaining a degree in the areas of communication, the College Public Relations Association (CPRAM) will award three scholarships – one $1,250 to a 2024 high school graduate, - one $1,250 scholarship to a student in an accredited two-year institution of higher learning and - one $1,250 scholarship to an undergraduate attending a four-year institution of higher learning.
Applicant must be in good standing and present three letters of recommendation from individuals connected to his/her academic institution. This includes college advisers, high school teacher/official, home-school teacher, etc. Students may be recommended by an active CPRAM member in lieu of, or in conjunction with, those listed above.
Applicant must complete in full the attached application and return it to the CPRAM scholarship committee on or before the deadline of Feb. 23, 2024. Application must be accompanied by letters of recommendation. The application can be found at cpram.online.
Application must be accompanied by a 500-word essay entitled, “With all the changes being made in the field of communications, what skills do I have to keep up with these changes?”
The scholarship shall be for a one-year period. The recipient may reapply annually for the scholarship, but the committee reserves the right to make its decision based on need, merit and the number of applicants each year.
The committee will announce the winner(s) during its annual conference held in May. The scholarships will then be awarded for the fall term.
Students applying for the CPRAM scholarship must be majoring in one of the following fields of study: public relations, communications, journalism, advertising, mass communications, political communications, crisis management, graphic design or other communication- oriented major. The CPRAM scholarship committee reserves the right to determine what major is considered acceptable. CPRAM may choose to offer the scholarships on alternating years if funds are not sufficient, or if there are no eligible applicants. CPRAM reserves the right to reject any or all applicants.
Applicants must be considered full-time students at their institutions.
The scholarship can be revoked and a payback policy stipulated under the following circumstances: 1) withdrawal from school before year for which funds were expended is completed; 2) change of major to non-communication major; 3) failure to maintain a 2.0 GPA on a 4-point scale; 4) grave instances of misconduct.
Applicants must attend an accredited institution in the state of Mississippi. This stipulation reaffirms the organization that distributes the scholarships - the College Public Relations Association of Mississippi.
